Then when my show is done and I get paid, 9/10 times I’ve been noticing that the envelope of Canadian Tire money (that’s a joke), actually has written on it – ‘Brendon Gomez Band’. I stop and then think ‘could i do, or should I do this’? Become a band of ‘1’, with some sort of name extension. Would that sound legit, or too 1998? I guess the bonus of being in a band, is that band’s always like hanging out in music stores. And to me that’d be pretty cool hanging out in places like Steve’s Music, Guitar World, or Long and McQuade, having conversations about musical toys, staring at walls of walls of guitar and other swank gear. Gee its’ good to be in a band. The Brendon Gomez Band?

I challenge (or encourage) any musician to do this while performing. It’s just like playing 3 instruments at once, except the 3rd instrument is called “marketer”.
While performing at the Madison (a place where i’m slightly isolated, i can sit at a piano and have the alone time to setup experiments in the blink of an eye) I’m starting to “skype” with friends and loved ones in live time (as they can watch me from their own homes..in Toronto, London UK, and anywhere else) on my smartphone, as well as I’ve started receiving song requests via tweets and texts from strangers, my wife, and sisters around the world.

It’s a logistical challenge do this, but if your savy enough you can manage to do a show broadcasted anywhere. This challenge started at The Madison Piano Bar where at any given night, the show was bigger than the audience in attendance.
Earth Hour – the Final Frontier Gig
22 MarEarth Hour was an event I haven’t played for in a few years, but it was great when St.James Gate asked me to do their earth hour event show. A great global cause where the “world” turns off their lights for 1 hour, to save energy and preserve the Earth to its original core – in the modern world,
it’s a candle light affair filled with a “community” sense that we are all in this together. Positioned on a stage, I gave a mini speech to the crowd infront of me, announcing the lights were turning off, and that w were part of something special. As the lights dimmed at 8:30pm I performed a special organic (no transfat) setlist and physically left the stage (during the 2nd song Space Oddity) to serenade the crowd. Walking in
the dark, singing while playing guitar, around waiters/waitresses, it was a ‘surreal’ experience that made me feel I was sleep walking to the fridge to get a glass of milk at 3am on a Wednesday.
