Songwriting sessions at Cresswood Inn Port Carling

Screen Shot 2017-10-01 at 9.45.56 PMThere’s always some interesting inspiration that comes after a show in Port Carling, Muskoka.  You get back to your room and songs seem to flow faster than ever, cause your not in your usual environment of hustle, traffic and deadlines. This was the case when I played the JW Marriott and stayed at their musicians residence the Cresstwood Inn.
I could have stayed at the JW (I have before), but I wanted the experience in this Muskoka Treasure residence that countless people have stayed at. With harmonica in hand and chords to follow, it was a great place to write songs. So far, I have songs such as “Stand Back”, “A Good Time”, and “Diamond in Rough” finished. I need to get away more.

GTA August Tour Shirt

16 Aug
I’ve always been saying it would be great to have my own ‘tour’ t-shirt. In a month, I’ve managed to perform at least 10+ shows, in different venues across the Greater Toronto Area while remaining sane and balancing to the other things in my life. This coming August was no contest, as I had so many shows to mention. What better way to promote my show dates than having a guy with deadlocks turn his back with each date spread across his back in a 100% polyester track suit top jacket. Super imposed? No way, this is even better than the real thing.

Summer in your city shows

13 Jul

When the hot weather arrived, it arrived with new stage clothes – a vest.

Its almost essential wardtrobe for a musician…I never realized it, but there are so many musician performers who wear a vest. The 1980’s saw the rise of the ‘pirate’ look vest – long hair, earring, no shirt and vest. I wont dare do that in 2017.

In the 90’s the vest kinda died. With the invention of the ‘hipster’ it has risen from the musical grave. Mumford and Sons, Monsters of Men, Edward Sharpe, they all rock the vest.

My vest is from J.Crew. Where’s yours from?

And here it is, during a hot summer show at Oakville’s Fionn MacCools.
