Grand Dad Rock vs Dad Rock

My setlists always have a good mix of everything, depending on the age demographic of the audience.

A few years back (2006) I started thinking that playing hits of the 90’s was “different” or unique. Now it’s 2014, and

i find that the tide has turned where 90’s music is now ‘Dad Rock’ and 60’s music is more or less “Grand Dad Rock”.

In April I had a gig per week which I surveyed requests from families vs single professionals. Amazing, the families wanted hits from the 90’s and the single professionals wanted songs from 2002 – present. This gig was at the swanky Cavern Club in Toronto (no not Liverpool), where Dad Rock folks were tweeting away.
